Competencias profesionales de los orientadores educativos mexicanos
RESUMENLas constantes transformaciones del mundo actual han puesto de manifiesto la urgente necesidad decontar con orientadores educativos especializados en la preparación de las nuevas generaciones paralograr sociedades más justas y equitativas. El texto presenta los resultados para México del Proyectointernacional sobre competencias profesionales de los orientadores educativos de la AIOSP —coordinadopor E. Repetto—, realizado durante 2002-2003 por la Asociación Mexicana de Profesionales de laOrientación (AMPO). Con un estudio exploratorio descriptivo se adaptó el Cuestionario internacionalprovisto por la AIOSP, acorde a las condiciones mexicanas y se aplicó a una muestra de orientadoresmexicanos que laboraban en distintos niveles educativos. Los resultados de 2003 mostraron que enMéxico, los orientadores educativos poseían sólidas competencias profesionales en las áreas psicosocial,escolar, vocacional y profesional, pero que su formación era menor en las áreas de Orientaciónlaboral, orientación comunitaria y en Investigación y Evaluación. Asimismo, se detectó un menor interéspor la gestión de programas y servicios, y por la consultoría. A partir de estos hallazgos, la AMPOy otras instituciones educativas han impulsado otros estudios específicos acerca de las necesidades deformación y capacitación de los orientadores, diseñando programas de formación con enfoques socioconstructivistasy de educación basada en competencias.ABSTRACTThe constant changes in today's world have highlighted the urgent need for specialized educational counselorsin preparing new generations to achieve more just and equitable societies. We also detecteda minor interest in the management of programs and services, and consulting. From these findings,AMPO and other educational institutions have prompted further studies on the specific training needsof counselors, designing training programs approaches socioconstructivistas and competency-based education.
