El objetivo de la presente investigación es identificar las creencias que estudiantes de ingreso reciente a Pedagogía en Historia poseen sobre el método histórico. Conocimiento que permitiría diseñar métodos y estrategias de enseñanza especificas para desarrollar el pensamiento histórico en los futuros profesores. A partir de una investigación de corte cualitativo, descriptivo-denso y hermenéutico, se aplicaron grupos focales a profesores y profesoras en formación de la región de la Araucanía. Los resultados develaron que los sujetos reconocen el rol de las fuentes para comprender situaciones del pasado que afectan al presente. Asimismo, identifican al historiador como reconstructor del pasado. Sin embargo, sobre su experiencia de uso de método en el aula manifiestan que la principal forma de aprendizaje fue el mismo profesor y los recursos diseñados por éste.

The objectives of this qualitative research are to know the beliefs that students of pedagogy in recent history to have income on the historical method. Knowledge that would allow the design of specific teaching methods to develop historical thinking in future teachers. Based on a qualitative-descriptive dense and hermeneutical research , focus group were applied to teacher in training in the Araucanía, Chile. The results unveiled that recognize the role of sources to understand situations from the past that affect the present. They also identify the historian as last rebuilder. However, on their experience of using method in the classroom report that the main form of learning was the professor and resources designed for it.
