Indo-European s-mobile and Indo-European morphology
This brief paper explores how the plausibility of an individual reconstruction can be assessed in terms of its logical consistency with the larger reconstructed system. Specifically, it evaluates competing theories of the origin of lndo-European s-mobile in light of recent proposals about the nature of early lndo-European morphology. The conclusion reached here is that the element arose through morphological reinterpretation.
