The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) is a government agency, the largest state institution dedicated to research in Spain and the third largest in Europe. Attached to the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, through the Secretary of State for Research, Development and Innovation, its core objective is to carry out and promote research into scientific and technological progress, to which end it is open to working with Spanish and foreign institutions.
Its purpose is to promote, coordinate, carry out and disseminate multidisciplinary scientific and technological research, in order to contribute to advancing economic, social and cultural knowledge and development, and to train staff and advice public and private institutions in this regard.
