Abstract: This paper proposes a historical understanding of the theoretical and methodological lines that have characterized the studies abouttheLatin Americancinema. With itsearlyexponents in the '80sand an increasing emphasis later, this trend consolidates a number of distinctive patterns, which were enriched by the work done byLatin American researchers, and a group of scholarsthatin other academic centersput their interest in our cinema.Basedona frame of referencetheacademic work with the most widely circulated at the international level, thispaperfocus on the recognition of the different phases that mark the history of comparative studies of Latin American cinema. Moreover, this work analyzesthe comparative patters thatorganize the texts.
Translated abstract: El presente texto propone la comprensin histrica de una de las lneas terico-metodolgicas que han signado los estudios sobre cine latinoamericano. Con sus primeros exponentes en la dcada del 80, y un creciente nfasis en las posteriores, esta tendencia consolid una serie de modelos distintivos, que se enriquecieron con el trabajo realizado por investigadores latinoamericanos, y por todo un conjunto de estudiosos que en otros centros acadmicos mundiales depositaron su inters en nuestras cinematografas. Tomando como marco de referencia los escritos de mayor circulacin acadmica a nivel internacional, el artculo se centrar en el reconocimiento de las distintas fases que marcan la historia de los estudios comparados sobre el cine latinoamericano, as como en la explicacin de las principales situaciones y modalidades de comparacin que organizan los textos.
