Abstract: The results of the teaching of Spanish as second language to foreign students in ELE courses are analyzed, starting from recognizing the social impact for a better communicative and intercultural interaction during the exchanging with native speakers from Santiago de Cuba. The weakness and strength are revealed, in the same way methodological guidelines and a system of sociocultural knowledge to project a logical and integrated link between the language formative process and the strengthening of communicative relation at the local context. 
Translated abstract: Se analizan los resultados de la enseñanza del español como lengua extranjera (ELE) en la Universidad de Oriente a estudiantes extranjeros insertados en estos cursos, a partir de reconocer su impacto social para una mejor interacción comunicativa e intercultural en sus intercambios con hablantes nativos de la ciudad de Santiago de Cuba. Se revelan las principales debilidades y fortalezas y se proponen pautas metodológicas y un sistema de conocimientos socioculturales para proyectar un vínculo más coherente e integrador entre el proceso de formación en la lengua y el fortalecimiento de las relaciones comunicativas en el contexto local santiaguero.
