En este artículo se analiza la etimología del nombre del dios Asclepio en relación con los atributos de este dios, con el objetivo de que se pueda establecer una etimología, con orígenes en el indoeuropeo, de una manera precisa y plausible,   tomando como punto de partida la comparación entre las variadas explicaciones etimológicas que se han dado y que han generado algunas controversias en torno a su origen. De vital importancia es el hecho de destacar  su carácter solar.

This article analyzes the etymology of the name of the God Asclepius and its relation within the attributes of the God. So we hope to give a plausible and the most-possible-correct etymology with Indo-European origin, and we do compare the different etymological explanations given before that have caused some controversies because of its origin. Crucial importance has the fact that we emphasize the solar character of the God.
