| Resumen: | There is a cultural center in Mexico that survives despite being in the ciy with the highest level of violence, resignifying young people’s lives in the city of Reynosa. Thanks to its idealizer, Ricardo Ivan Lopes García, Alaken pulsates art. This article is based on conversations with the Center's founder, who shares with us its story, works and especially the importance of this creative freedom space in young citzens lives. We dialogue with theater based on Antonin Artaud, Eugenio Barba, Peter Brook’ reflections. We have extended this dialogue to a recent interview with the actress Grace Passô about marginality and the theater. Here we present culture in its transforming aspect, not as a savior, but as a reliever of institutionalized violence. |

| Resumen traducido: | Existe no México, um Centro Cultural que sobrevive diante do maior índice de violência do País. Ele se propõe a dar ressignificado à vida de jovens habitantes da Cidade de Reynosa. Graças ao seu idealizador, Ricardo Ivan Lopes García, em Alaken pulsa a Arte como resistência e sensibilidade. O artigo se baseia em conversas com o inspirador do Centro, que compartilha a sua história, o funcionamento e, especialmente a importância desse espaço de liberdade criativa na vida da juventude; e, em diálogo permanente com o teatro, a partir de reflexões de Antonin Artaud, Eugenio Barba, Peter Brook. Além disso, o conectamos com uma recente entrevista com a atriz Grace Passô sobre a marginalidade e o teatro. Apresentamos, aqui, a cultura em seu aspecto transformador. Não como salvadora; mas, como uma cultura que se pretende apaziguadora de uma violência institucionalizada, no mundo contemporâneo. |
