In the mountain region of Santa Catarina, between the years 1912 to 1916, broke out a popular revolt called “Guerra do Contestado” (Brazil’s Contestado rebellion). But for the thousands of “caboclos” who took arms in the ongoing conflict was the “Guerra de São Sebastião” (War of St. Sebastian), whose outcome would restore the monarchy, inaugurating an era of happiness and abundance. This article aims to reflect about the transformation of the Christian martyr St. Sebastian in a character with attributes related to those given to the kings of Christian millenarism.
