Desde 1926 se edita en formato impreso y desde 1991 también en formato electrónico. Los objetivos con los que se inició entonces la revista se han mantenido a lo largo de los años: dar a conocer las investigaciones originales y los estudios técnicos del personal sanitario nacional, así como los trabajos y documentos de procedencia extranjera que fueran de interés para la Sanidad Nacional.
