Orden, educación y mala vida en la Nueva España
El texto trata del acercamiento entre los conceptos de educación y vida cotidiana. Las preguntas acerca de qué es y para qué sirve la educación se cruzan con las definiciones de lo que hace tres o cuatro siglos se consideraba una vida feliz o desdichada.Los comentarios sobre la realidad y las creencias enla Nueva España destacan las profundas diferencias a lo largo de tres siglos y entre los diversos grupos sociales. El texto destaca la importancia decisiva de la formación religiosa como única forma de educación accesible a toda la población.
This paper centers around the proximity between the concepts of education and daily life. The questions of the meaning and function of education overlap with the definitions of what was considered a happy or unhappy life three or four centuries ago. Comments on reality and beliefs in New Spain stress the profound differences among the various social groups and throughout three centuries. The paper emphasizes the decisive importance of religious instruction as the only kind of education accessible to the entire population.
