How to participate in REDIB Journals
For scientific journal publishers, REDIB represents a solid platform for indexing and managing their journals and documents, ensuring visibility through a powerful search engine, dissemination through multiple REDIB-affiliated communication channels, tools for improving publishing quality, access to the Publisher’s Forum, tools for managing the bibliography, statistical information and bibliometric information, among other services.
Journals to be incorporated into the REDIB platform must:-
Offer open online access to the entirety of their contents. An embargo period of no greater than six months since the last issue publication is permitted.
-
Meet the REDIB formality and content quality criteria for journals.
-
Fill out the form at Create New Account / Journals
-
Pass the evaluation. After this, the journal undertakes to place the REDIB logo, with a link to the portal, on a visible part of their website; failing that, it shall mention REDIB in writing and provide a link to the website. REDIB will provide a username and password to log in Login to your REDIB Journals account (one publisher username for each journal).
-
Incorporate the metadata in REDIB. Two cases are considered, depending on the computer infrastructure and the possibilities of the publisher:
Case 1. The publisher has its own data provider on its website, based on the OAI-PMH protocol, and has provided the URL of the OAI data provider in the journal publisher registration form. The publication will also need to have a professional scientific publishing software such as Open Journal Systems (OJS), so that REDIB can automatically harvest the metadata of the articles from the journal’s OAI-PMH data provider.
Case 2. The publisher does not have a data provider based on the OAI-PMH protocol on its website. The publisher will need to enter the metadata of the published articles in an online form using their REDIB Journals publisher account. Journal issues should be entered in descending order (most recent issues first). Maximum updating of issues in REDIB (last year published) will be required. We recommend that the contents that appear in your portal match those that are displayed on REDIB.
